‘Oakdale Valley’ – Building an ’00’ Garden Railway:

Following on from my ‘Oakdale Junction’ 00 gauge model railway in the garage, this video shows the development of a modest (by many others standards) & very simple layout in the garden. It was inspired by the fact that I wanted something more relaxing to operate than my ‘busy’ end to end layout and to give my Loco’s & rolling stock an opportunity to show their paces which they are usually denied.
The ‘project’ was rather unwisely started in September (2012) but ground clearance & building work progressed rapidly until winter caught up with me. A final push in the last few weeks has resulted in an almost complete layout & it’s inaugural train. There is much more to do with planting & scenic work where appropriate but will progress quickly I imagine.
Further inspiration & encouragement came from Members of http://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/ many of them having proved that ’00’ in the garden is not as strange as some would believe.
I hope you enjoy this introduction of combined Video/Photo’s & that it might inspire others to ‘give it a go’ however large or small your garden/patio/yard or big field is!!
